Chong Tin Lung Benny

Founder & Chairman

Mr. Chong Tin Lung Benny is the Founder and Chairman of VMS Group, responsible for managing the Group’s overall business and corporate strategy. He founded the company in 2006 in Hong Kong and since then, VMS Group has become a well-established, independent multi-strategy financial services group.

Mr. Chong has over 25 years of experience and expertise in the financial industry, and brings extensive consulting knowledge in investments and asset management globally. He also has a wealth of corporate management and experience in China, Hong Kong and the international markets.  He currently serves as Chairman of Auto Italia Holdings Ltd. (stock code: 720 HK) and Newton Resources Ltd. (stock code: 1231 HK), both of which are companies listed on Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

Mr. Chong holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Master Degree in Science in Investment Management from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder.

Elton Cheung

Managing Partner

Mr. Elton Cheung is a Managing Partner of VMS Group, responsible for corporate strategy, business development and risk management.

Mr. Cheung has over 20 years of experience in investing, banking and related fields, with areas of expertise spanning across corporate strategy, institutional fund-raising, risk management across all risk disciplines, corporate governance, internal operational control and infrastructure build-up, for global banks, boutique private funds, and start-up joint ventures in multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions including especially in Mainland China.

Prior to joining VMS, Mr. Cheung was a Managing Partner and CEO of a boutique infrastructure fund manager, whose business was acquired by Manulife Asset Management. Before that, he has spent over 10 years with Morgan Stanley as a Managing Director and China Chief Operating Officer, and as Greater China Head of Legal and in other senior positions.

Mr. Cheung practiced law with Freshfields and Herbert Smith Freehills in Hong Kong, London and Sydney in his early career, specializing in cross-border private equity investments and structured finance transactions.

Mr. Cheung holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honors) and a Bachelor of Economics with the University of Sydney.

Jianming Zou

Partner, Head of Private Equity

Mr. Jianming Zou is Partner and Head of Private Equity of VMS Group, responsible for managing the Group’s Private Equity Business.

Mr. Zou joined VMS Group in January 2023.  With over 20 years of professional experience in the private equity and financial services industry, he brings a deep industry knowledge and expertise in private equity investments and management.  Prior to joining VMS, he has been a Partner for a leading China-focused private equity firm, New Horizon Capital, for over 14 years.  Before that, he was an Associate Director at Starr International Investment Advisors, where he was responsible for executing their strategic and private equity investment strategy in the APAC region.  He also held roles with Goldman Sachs and CICC in his early career.

Mr. Zou earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, and received a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Peking University in China.

Andrew Ng

Partner, Head of Healthcare

Mr. Andrew Ng is a Partner and the Head of Healthcare of VMS Group. He has over 16 years of experience in the healthcare industry across Asia and the U.S. He joined VMS Group in 2017, and has established the Group’s healthcare practice since then. He has led multiple growth-stage investments for the Group across the therapeutics, diagnostics, medical device and CRO/ CDMO verticals.

Before joining VMS, Mr. Ng was the Head of China Healthcare Research at Barclays Capital. He also served as an investment banker, where he covered healthcare clients across the Asia Pacific region. He started his career as a management consultant at ZS Associate, advising global pharma on sales and marketing strategy and operations.

Mr. Ng received an MBA from INSEAD, a M.Eng. degree and a B.S. degree in Operations Research & Engineering from Cornell University.

Kevin Gong

Head of Tech & Consumer

Mr. Kevin Gong is Managing Director and the Head of Tech and Consumer of VMS Group, where he leads the overall management of the Tech and Consumer Investment Team and oversees its investment management activities.

Mr. Gong joined VMS in March 2023. He has over 15 years of experience in the technology sector, with a specific focus on hard technologies and consumer industries. He also has led numerous transactions and completed IPO exits, delivering exceptional investment returns and accumulating extensive expertise in investment operations and resource management.

Before joining VMS, he was the general manager at CITIC New Future Invest in Beijing. Before that, he was a Director at New Horizon Capital in Beijing for 10 years. He began his investment career as an analyst at New Horizon Capital.
