Partner and Head of Healthcare, Andrew Ng, attended the Boao Forum

VMS Group, by invitation from HKBIO, participated in the 3rd Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia from July 16 to 18, 2024 in Beijing. This year’s conference was themed “Health Everywhere – The Sustainable Development Era of 2030”, and opened with insightful remarks from Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, 8th UN Secretary-General, and Dr. Margaret Chan, WHO Director-General Emeritus.

A special commendation to HKBIO for leading “Innovation for Health – Asian Health Industry Forum: Hong Kong Perspective”, the only city-themed parallel forum at the event. In fact, the opening remarks came from the former Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mrs. Carrie Lam (林鄭月娥), who emphasized Hong Kong’s pivotal role in shaping the future development of global health.

Andrew Ng, Partner and Head of Healthcare at VMS Group, also participated in the roundtable discussion on “Sustainable Development – Establishing Health Investment Funds.” Andrew shared valuable insights from his decade-long experience in healthcare, discussing the breakthroughs in the industry and challenges in the capital market.

As the healthcare industry continues to transform amidst tough market conditions, Andrew emphasized how VMS Group has also been gradually building its own ecosystem, helping portfolio companies connect with global resources from CXO services to technology exchange. To this end, VMS Group actively encourages its ecosystem companies to establish presence in Hong Kong, in order to fully utilize the city’s top-tier resources in basic research, clinical expertise and talent, as a stepping stone for global expansion.

This forum highlighted Hong Kong’s crucial role in the global biotech landscape. We are excited about the future of healthcare innovation and continuing to contribute to this dynamic field.
